Abrasive Wheels for Portable and Fixed Machines

Our abrasive wheels course is classroom based instruction for all operators, managers and supervisors, who as part of their working duties select, mount or use abrasive wheels as defined in the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.

The aim of the course is to enable candidates of varied experience and ability to work safely, to provide an understanding of current legislation and promote awareness of the risks and hazards of abrasive wheels, and to offer practical steps to reduce workplace accidents and encourage workers to adopt a culture that results in a safer workplace.

  • Overview of Health and Safety Legislation inc HASWA 99, PUWER 98, MHSWR 99, PPER 92

  • Hazards, Risks and Risk Control Measures including Contact, Wheel Burst, Noise, Respiratory and HAVS Hazards

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Types of Abrasive Wheel Machines and their safe use.

  • Resin & Vitrified Bonded Abrasive Wheel Selection, Identification and Inspection – Types 1, 27, 41 & 42

  • Correct Use, Setting, Adjustment and Inspection of Flanges, Guards and Accessories

  • Pre-Use Machine Safety Checks

  • How to Mount of Abrasive Wheels on

  • Dress and Balance Vitrified Abrasive Wheels on Bench and Pedestal Grinders


Abrasive Wheels for Portable and Fixed Machines Certification:

Candidate who successfully completes the course will receive a Certificate of Training and Training ID Card.


On Site Training:

This course can be provided at your site, workplace or offices subject to sufficient numbers.
